The search for purpose in life has puzzled people for thousands of years because we usually look in the wrong place: ourselves. While society and self-help books disagree, you won't discover purpose by looking within yourself. Only God, the creator of life, can reveal your purpose here on earth.
"Everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible...everything got started in Him and finds its purpose in Him"
(Colossians 1:16, The Message).
To know God's purpose for your life means you need to know God. God's desire to have a relationship with you and show you your purpose in life, but sin has separated man from God. In order to restore man's relationship with God, He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for you and pay the penalty for your sin. Because the penalty for sin has been paid, you can have a relationship directly with God. But it requires an individual response from you to receive it. To accept Jesus into your heart you have to acknowledge that:
We are sinful: "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23
But He still loves us: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16
Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the cross: "God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8
Be willing to be born again of the water and of the spirit: "Except a man be born of the water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." John 3:5
Complete the three steps to Christian conversion:
-
Repent - confessing and forsaking sin and calling on the Lord Jesus for salvation;
-
Water Baptism - (complete immersion in water) in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission (cleansing) of sins;
-
Receiving the Holy Ghost, which is always verified by the supernatural sign of speaking in other tongues.
"Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." Acts2:38
